Today, MS Word kept crashing with a memory error, so I called tech support. Instead of actually fixing the problem, their tech wasted over an hour of my time defragmenting the hard drive, disabling the anti-virus, and downloading new video card drivers from some shady site, before giving up. FML

Make sure you have the proper java installed. If you're running windows 7 64 bit, get java 64 bit

Actually, defragging the hard drive is a good way of freeing up space if your harddrive is having memory space issues. And they probably had to deactivate your anti-virus because many anti-viruses are so paranoid they don't let you download stuff from perfectly safe websites. And I'm sure the website they used was not "shady" but a perfectly legitimate one they use often. Also, I am amazed at all the people saying "Get a Mac". Maybe the OP HAS a Mac. Most Mac users still use Microsoft Office.

Meh, these guys are useless. They don't even know what they actually are doing... And his technic won't work for crap, just wasting your time and pissing you off. Best way is to re install the program. Works for me
