Today, my 70-year-old grandmother held a celebration over officially having divorced my grandfather. FML

Never too late to be happy I guess

Just because you're old doesn't mean you lose the concept of what/who makes you happy

Why is that a bad thing? Let your grandmother be happy.

Good for her! Congrats grandma! Hope that you are more supportive than you sound, to both of them!

Why does your life suck? Its your grandma's decision. that's awesome, maybe it should've happened awhile ago and she never had the balls or ability to finally end it. I would say she stuck it out for as long as possible.

Easier? Not if they were unhappy. Being with someone you aren't happy with can eat at you emotionally like a slow killing painful disease. You wouldn't want to see your loved ones suffer from a physical thing, so why is mental different?

Try having your grandparents divorce at 92 and 95! :/

If she was unhappy good for her for getting out of a bad situation. Age should not determine whether or not you stay in a situation where you are miserable.

Grammaw's got game! What's your problem with this, OP? No one is ever too old to have a shot at enjoying life. She's shed the old ****** and moved on. You should celebrate with her!!

Don't know what kind of person your grandfather is or what their marriage was like, so I'm not voting either way. Though I have to say, for a woman of her generation to get divorced at this stage in her life and then celebrate it...she must have her reasons.
