Today, my 8-year-old came home from school crying. Apparently her teacher told the whole class to write about how they felt when they learned that Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy weren't real. FML

even worse. my 5 year old nephew had the same experience. his teacher had the same assignment and got the whole class in tears because they all still believed in santa

My sisters are ten and they still believe, so that was a major bitchmove.

So basically you send your kid to school so that they can learn, and then get upset when the kid comes home after learning something new because it goes against some lies you told the kid when they were at home. If you want to raise your kid believing in things that aren't real, send them to a private school that teaches intelligent design.

That's terrible, but but there should be an age where the child is told if they haven't found out. Though eight is young to assume a kid knows santa isn't real.

My teacher also told me that Santa wasn't real when I was her age after he said it he realised what he just said I remember that day like it was yesterday

Report her to the principle and/or the school board. That's messed up.

That's not a subject any teacher has the right to talk about

I wouldn't go as far as firing her...that's a bit extreme. I would complain to the principle.

I would fire her she sounds like she did it on purpose. the subject has nothing to do with school. I'd ask them to take it out of the curriculum.

The assignment was a bad idea. First off, the teacher should've made sure that everyone knew that Santa wasn't real. Also a more appropriate Assignment should have been: What do you want for Christmas? Or What do you do for the holidays? Honestly other than that I believe that kids should be told the truth when he/she is 10. At least in 4th grade. If you're in 5th grade going I middle school and still believe in Santa, you're just going to get teased or made fun of. If you're afraid of telling your kid, it's not going to ruin their childhood if they are 8 or 9. Younger, then maybe.

As soon as I found out Santa wasn't real my parents stopped giving me Christmas presents >

I'm glad my parents elected to tell me the truth from the start. I've seen kids become inconsolable after being told Santa isn't real. The magic of Christmas is in the spirit of Christmas. Not a magical man who lives in the clouds and hands out presents. Teach your kids THAT!!!

yes, don't just fill their heads with nonsense.

When I was 7 my teacher just straight up told the whole class "I'm not going to lie to you like your parents are, but Santa isn't real."
