Today, my best friend, the man who I've been in love with for nine years, finally told me he loves me and wants to spend the rest of his life with me. Unfortunately, it was while he was using me to practice proposing to his girlfriend. FML

I'm the OP. To all the people who assume he doesn't know: He does. And so does his girlfriend. They've been together since high school, before I met him. She and I know and like each other. I'm not just a coward. And I haven't just been pining away after him all this time. I've had boyfriends, it's just never been right. I don't think I'm selfless for being his friend. I think his girlfriend's pretty selfless for letting me be his friend. I think I've accepted the fact that we'll never be together and am willing to put up with some sadness to keep him in my life in the only way he can be. It still sucks though, and knowing they're getting married sort of drives it home. To the people who assume I'm fat and ugly: I actually weigh about 100 pounds, and his girlfriend is overweight. She's awesome though so it doesn't really matter, and I'm sure he'll be happier with her than you'll ever be with anyone. To CrimsonImpact and everyone else who's nice: thanks for being nice :)

Break it off now. If I had a dime for every woman who didn't have a problem with her boyfriend's ex or female friend until the ring went on the finger I'd be a millionaire. Same goes for guys and their girlfriend's ex/male friend. You've probably blown off a lot of nice guys because they didn't measure up to your forbidden fruit. It's not worth it. MOVE ON!

Just because somebody isnt as good looking as you or a bit over weight, DOES NOT MEAN that they are not human, and they dont deserve to be treated with Respect. It hurts them when your mean to them, lay off a bit. And No, IM not fat. I might not be the hottest girl around, but Im not ugly. So dont it. But have some respect, they are JUST like you. Im not saying you have to date a over weight chick or ugly one, but dont be rude to them. Just leave them alone, if they say something to you, answer. END OF IT. Sheesh. And to Op: Im not sure if this is a FML, I have lot worse of a life, but you dont deserve it. Sorry, hope you find somebody better :)
