Today, my boss bitched at me because my body language "indicates that you don't enjoy doing your job". I just have scoliosis. FML

Im sorry about your scoliosis. Your boss is a bitch! You should tell him/her know though. The guilt will haunt them for life. >:)

Well, tell her that. She might not know.

I don't know why the_f3rris is getting thumbed down. My best friend had surgery for it and doesn't have to wear a brace. Neither does my aunt...

Wear a back straightener. Scoliosis is no excuse for being lazy and hating your job.

I know the feeling.. And for those, who say to wear a back straightener and other things to keep back straight, it makes back hurt and makes it even more lazy and weak. So that's not so much of a help for getting better, but for muscles to turn lazy, because they don't have to do all the work.

I had my L-2 through 4 fused with rods to correct my scoliosis, and it sucks. Sorry, OP it is rough.

Sounds like a great reason to complain to higher ups, no one needs to tolerate that bullshit. Should get fired that instant!

Tell your boss to try having her back positioned at an awkward angle all the time and see how she likes it. Honestly the world we live in today. Smh.

As others have mentioned, if your boss doesn't know you have scoliosis, take the time to explain that to him. If he still gives you trouble, take your diagnosis to HR so you can ensure your protection under the ADA. I used to get lectured about how slow I would work sometimes, before I told my boss that I have arthritis that affects my wrists/fingers (I work on a computer all day). After explaining the situation, they have been much more understanding of my situation. Good luck OP!

49- Arthritis at the age of 21? Its great your boss is/was understanding about it, but how are you going to able to do your job at 31 or 41? Will it not worsen over time and use? :(

Most likely. I'm still working on a plan to make sure I don't lose too much movement as I grow older.

Wow some boss your have. FYL OP. I have scholiosis, so I kinda know what you're going through. It's a lil awkward trying to explain to people that you can't do certain things for fear it might make your back worse. My back isn't as bad as it used to be, but I still have problems sometimes. Hope everything gets better for you!

You're not alone OP! I have scoliosis as well.
