Abuuussse!
Now if you had gone and done it anyway and they actually had the nerve to "kick your ass" you could sue that mo-fo for all they're worth Take one for the team
She could have explained "company policy requires that I check - would you like to talk to my manager about it?" and then page the manager. She's not paid to get into a fight, but the manager is right to expect her to call him if there is a problem which she can't handle herself.
check it anyway
i agree! you should have checked it- he/she was probably trying to scare you so he/she could get awaywith stealing
I kind of doubt that the customer would have "kicked your ass" had you checked. Did you tell your boss about it?
check out your youtube.. thumbs up!
There are mirrors at the bottom of check out lanes for the purpose of doing it discreetly.
in the advanced ones they have sensors that tell the cashier if product is there
you should tell this to your boss, and in the future check under cutomers' carts. if your boss is not understanding then quit and tell him off. if you're working at a grocery store its not like it matters how you quit.
so have the customer arrested for menacing
Sorry but if you are to check under the cart, then you check under the cart. If a customer gives you crap over it, then call for a manager to come over and assist.
You should've checked anyway, stating that it's company policy, unless you work in the kind of place where no one would help you if he did get violent. Or explained to your boss what he said, though your boss might not be sympathetic, she might want staff who aren't afraid of the customers. However, this time, find a job where you don't feel as threatened by the customers.
I agree, but op got to go home early
OP getting to go home early means they did not get paid though for the lost time. In other words, the OP lost money by doing this, and I have yet to meet one utility company, cable company, cell phone company, mortgage company, or landlord who will accept IOU's because the paycheck was short due to being sent home
The OP might've got to go home early, but this has probably reflected badly on her (especially at this particular job) and so her boss will probably be checking her work more regularly. And as Mike said, she'll have lost pay for this. I like how you're trying to look on the bright side, Felipe, but I'm not sure how it is a bright side when you think it through.
