Today, my boyfriend and I broke up because we got into a fight over what color that confusing black and blue and white and gold dress was. FML

YDI for letting something so trivial become such a huge issue. Priorities, OP.

I can't believe this shit is going viral.

There were more underlying issues than the color of that dress...

I looked it up and all I see is white and gray. Then again, I'm colorblind, so I'm hardly the right person to judge the color.

That, sir, is hilarious! ( I have two brothers who are both color blind and I would love to give them a go at that dress.)

It's black and blue to me in most pictures but in others in gold and white. It's just annoying.

I've got really good night-vision, but very little color definition. It's something you just deal with.

And the above was meant to go one comment higher. I really need to not be on FML after being up all night.

If you guys broke up over that then you're relationship didn't have much hope anyways. (I think it's gold and white by the way)

turns out it actually is white and gold in the picture. if you see black and blue its because your eyes adjust well in dim lighting

Don't see where those dislikes come from because that's the exact explanation given by most neurologists.

No, the actual color of the dress is black and blue. There are other pictures of it in different lighting, not to mention the exact dress was found on amazing and it's being sold as black and blue. At least try to do a little research before claiming that people have neurological problems.

Of course the dress is black and blue, everyone who has done the tiniest bit of research knows that. The point is that because of the lighting in the photo, the dress is colored white and gold. Our brain automatically adjusts for the colour of the daylight. But the colours in this photo appear to be on some kind of border, some people adjust one way some the other way. Because your brain can't switch the other way once it has "chosen" what colour the dress is people see it in the same colours everytime. Or at least that's what I read while doing research. I don't just make assumptions.

That ******* dress. My god. I was up an extra two hours last night trying to make myself see blue and black. It finally changed for me and I could sleep. It's a very frustrating thing, and I'm not surprised it caused breakups.

I showed my boyfriend, we both disagreed but he pointed out that the color changes because of the lighting! It was something silly to look at this morning and I'm glad it didn't turn out to be an argument (although I didn't expect it to) good luck with your relationship OP hopefully you both come to your senses!

I'm tired of seeing this debate on Twitter and Tumblr. I'm close to blocking the original post and blacklisting the word "dress".
