Today, my boyfriend and I celebrated our five-year anniversary. I got him a new flat-screen TV. He got me toilet seat cover. FML

You suck! You gave your boyfriend a present that's going to outdated in a year or two, but he gave you one that will last forever. He's thinking long-term satisfaction, use and enjoyment, whereas you thought you could buy his affection like he was some kind of man-*****.

Soooo, you define your relationships by the amount of money they spend on you? Jesus christ. It was probably like one of those themed seat covers, too. Or those clear ones with "fish" inside. Something cute and funny. You are ungrateful. And its not like you wont be watching that TV too!

Aw, but don't you know the fifth anniversary is the toilet seat cover anniversary? :D

Why not talk about the amount of money you guys are going to spend on such a gift? Or am I the only one who thinks about that?

I'm seriously tired of these posts with these ungrateful women bitching and saying "WAHH my boyfriend didn't get me a big expensive gift... he still got me something but because it's not something huge and ridiculous my life is sooooooo ******, it's so horrible!" Jesus. If the only reason why your life is ****** is because your boyfriend isn't spoiling you like the whiny bitch you are, that's certainly nothing to complain about as I'd say your life is pretty damn good. Go to hell.

Wow! A bit much, maybe? The point was that the gifts were so unequal, not that her boyfriend didn't spontaneously throw expensive shit her way. Besides, saying "go to hell" to someone you're never going to meet is a little silly, yes?

Well then she's an idiot for buying him a freakin' TV! If I bought someone such an over-the-top gift like that I wouldn't expect something near equal in return, especially not from a BOYFRIEND. All I'm saying is I'm tired of seeing so many people bitch about GIFTS. He didn't have to get her anything at all, so even if it was a shitty gift, at least he thought about getting her SOMETHING, right?

I guess that's a good point. Like a few people have mentioned already, the idea of a "gift" in general seems to be lost on OP, as well as a large number of modern (women AND men) complainers.

On the bright side, you'll both be using both!

Not neccessarily. They may not live together.
