I really wish people would get a clue and stop comparing sex to vibrators. They're two completely different things that give different form of stimulation. Toys are not replacements for actual sex.

I can understand the insecurity from him. It could make him feel like he may not be good enough to pleasure her the way she wants and therefore she turns to the vibrator. Get off his back people and show some compassion.

YDI for buying an $80 vibrator. Although I think of he felt insecure he should have talked to you about it, I don't think you need an $80 vibrator because of it is that expensive he probably had the right to be insecure.
