Today, my boyfriend informed me that he can't remember the last time he took a shower. He then told me he doesn't see the "need" of taking showers. FML

I shower once a week and I don't smell, people don't notice it untill it comes up. Last summer I went to turkey for 2 weeks and it was 40°C there, I could not shower for days even thought I sweat like a pig. The only reason I showered was because my gf wanted.

But if your girlfriend wanted you to shower it must be because she noticed the smell, so it's not like you don't smell. You may think that other people don't notice if you shower once a week, but maybe they just want to be nice and not say anything about it.

Because she didn't notice it before he actually mentioned it? Because it doesn't actually matter or else she would have noticed? Because she fell in love with some other aspect of him, doesn't want to lose that in a boyfriend and believed that part could be changed? Grow some logic.

I'm right there with Princess on this one. It's a pretty fundamental difference of opinion, and a tricky one to get past. People break up for all sorts of superficial reasons, so why not one like this? Personally, not showering would be an instant dealbreaker for me. Rationalise it however you want, but I just couldn't do it.
