After op calls the police, won't it be her word against his? How can she prove he took her money? That's why I pay my rent with money order. If the money order is lost I can always call the bank and cancel it. Lose the cash or if the cash gets stolen, you're SOL. Not to be pessimistic, if the ex was low enough to steal her cash, what makes you think he won't lie to the cops to cover his ass? Fyl op.

Ah OP is telling one side of the story. For all we know that money could be his to begin with and she's just telling us it's hers because she's used to him paying the rent. Otherwise she'd be calling the police...not posting on FML
