Would the Keystoner Cops consider this a civil matter though? I feel for OP and that's so low to do something like that. As much as it sucks, better to find out now what a Loser POS he is than later.
(I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice and what are you doing taking legal advice from some rando on FML anyway?) Theft of her property (i.e. the items other than the rent money) would be considered a criminal matter and at the very least the police will assist her in getting her stuff back if possible. If the boyfriend's name is on the lease then he's responsible for coming up with his half of the rent, and that's a civil matter. Small claims court is probably the appropriate venue for that, depending on the limit for small claims in OP's state. (If OP lives in a place with expensive rent, and the lease and/or applicable state law make the tenant liable for the rent through the end of the lease term, and it's early into the life of the lease, the amount at issue could be into five figures.)
I hope there's an "x" somewhere in there. Like the "Patient X" they're going to put on his chart after you and your buddies have beaten him up.
If your landlord's coming tomorrow, that might cover your rent for the month. ;) Call him "Big Daddy" and you might find a way to stop using money for rent altogether.
That would be extremely awkward if the landlord is a women. Unless she's a bull dyke...
a pay with sexual favours forever.......not a gd idea
FYL and everything, but there are still people who pay their rent in cash?
AIUI it's not uncommon in the Boston area. Much of the rental housing stock is located in 2- and 3-family houses (the 3-families are called "three-deckers") that are owned by small-time individual investors. Often, the landlord lives in one of the units. In cases like this, it's not uncommon for the tenant to pay rent in cash, especially so-called "unbanked" individuals.
It's fairly common here too. A lot of people work can jobs in the side, or day labor, plus many these days don't trust the banking system, so they do most or all of their transactions in cash. My landlord with take direct bank transfers or cash only, as checks don't clear immediately and deadbeat tenants are known to write bad checks to buy themselves time.
my step mom pays rent and bills in cash sometimes, because she gets most of it from tips at work. its easier to go home with $80 in cash rather than run to the bank at 3am.
my apartment complex requires tenants to pay in money order or the landlord won't accept it
Try borrowing some money from your parents?
Well that was quick... Never mind I hit the wrong button.
u cnt let him do that call the cops !!!
So call the cops, that's theft

I would call the cops, or something....you cant just let him do that
