That's what my boyfriend said. But when I started calling it "just a ring" he decided it wasn't just a ring after all.
Well, damn... People will complain about anything.
Wow what an ass. If he hasn't asked you to marry him by this point, chances are he never will.
That's not true at all. What if the guy just isn't ready for marriage yet? There are plenty of couples who wait ages and end up happily married. I know of one couple that waited 12 years, another waited 10 and both are happily married. One surefire way of making sure that your marriage ends in divorce is by rushing your partner into marriage when they're not ready.
Five years is "rushing" into marriage? Seriously, if you don't know after 5 years, there's something wrong with your ability to make important decisions.
He got you an expensive ring don't complain
How do you know it was expensive? He could have gone to Walmart and got one of those $10 rings.
If that's the case, it would be hard to mistake a piece of shit ring as an engagement ring.
"I'll buy you a diamond ring if it makes you feel alright" - Paul McCartney
Sounds like a plot for a new romantic comedy. :p
My boyfriend got me a beautiful ring for christmas one year, the first thing into my head wasn't "ooh, he's going to propose" it was "wow, what a beautiful ring" then I read the card inside it said -With this ring I do promise, to love and and to cherish you- I teared up. It really is a beautiful promise ring, of course he kept that promise right up until our mutual break up (well, I mean it never said he would love and cherish me forever) :)
see the response to no.37. There's only one valid"promise ring" and you get it at marriage. of course, far too many people even consider those promises temporary.
Op here. So it was a diamond, a rather large one and he had said that before I even said anything. All I had done was look at him. Also, I didn't think of it as an engagement I thought of it as a promise because he had been talking about getting a promise ring for me for months. I'm not angry at all, I was just a little disappointed at the time. I wore it today, actually.
ooooo i feel u id be pissed off
