You're obviously wanting to get married. If you've been with a guy for 5 years, he knows this. Don't waste time on a man who won't commit to you, OP. And don't fall for the moving in together offer (if you aren't already). Most women see moving in together as a precursor to marriage, whereas most men see it as a way to appease the woman to postpone marriage. You want to get married, find a guy who sees your value and diesel hesitate to commit, over one too happy to take all the privileges of marriage without any of the responsibilities.

i just wonder why he would decide to get a ring when he should realize that a ring kinda sends a certain kind of message. especially if you've been together that long. how could you not assume at least slightly that it meant something?
