What he did wasn't easy :p
Sorry, but what does OP mean?? :
I don't see the need to be married, actually a death sentence is preferable.
That kind of behavior used to be called "getting cold feet" in my generation.
1) You don't need to be married to procreate. 2) The human race is rapidly overpopulating this planet. I'm sure it won't be too hurt if one or two couples don't bother to get married and start a family.
So he's not really ready to get married. Either leave him, or give him time. It depends on how you both really feel about each other. Like, we don't know the full situation you are both in, so we cannot tell you it will be awkward or not. Who knows, he came back, apologized, and gave you a kiss and a ring. OR, he may have run away forever nevermore.
'Hey baby, will you marry me?' 'Omg ye-' 'PSYCHE! PSYCHE PSYCHE PSYCHE!'
Why people propose when they're obviously not ready I will never know...

He was just in shock that you said yes and became his fiancé! Its a big step for couples! Once he gets more used to the idea he'll be ecstatic! :)
Crazy being the key word there... "Hey you wanna get married?LOLNOPEJKTTYL"
