Today, my boyfriend read online that oversleeping has been linked to strokes later in life. He's now taken it upon himself to protect me by making sure that I have as minimal sleep as possible. FML

Find an article that shows getting woken up by your BF a lot and not getting to sleep in or get much sleep leads to an increase in break ups or hospitalization due to severe foot to groin contact.

Atleast he cares about you by not wanting u to die of a stroke later in life

Sleep deprivation can make you gain weight. Tell him that and I don't think he'll wake you up as much;)

Or maybe her boyfriend isn't shallow as **** and wouldn't care if OP gained a few pounds. Assuming she is a healthy weight and those extra pounds aren't going to cause further health problems on top of the sleep deprivation.

It's shallow to want your partner physically fit?

Define "oversleeping". I do believe everyone is different when it comes to this. I live off 6 hours. If I get 8+ I feel groggy, tired, and horrible. So I describe that as "oversleep" so am I going to have a stroke later on that has to do with this?

I am the same way. If I get more than 4 hours at a time I get groggy and disoriented. I usually can go up to 4 days on 4 hours sleep. Everyone is different though. Some people need up to 12 hours of sleep some need less. Op perhaps a long talk is in order.

It seems to me that by you getting only minimal sleep that this would only increase his chances of getting strokes.

Time for a new boyfriend. Sleep > Boyfriend... True story.

You would break up with because he's trying to keep you from having a stroke? I understand why ops pissed I would be too, but she doesn't have to break up with him, he was just doing it cuz he cares

His heart is in the right place. Just try doing what others have advised and explain what sleep deprivation is to him.

Show him articles about how lack of sleep can **** up your body.

Tell him that if he keeps this up, he's guaranteed never to have another "stroke".

He is quite sweet... Hang on to him.. Just educate him that EVERYTHING that's up on the internet needn't always be true... I m sure he will get it. In the meantime, hang in there, OP.
