I was in this situation as well, except we broke up just days before our trip to Puerto Rico, and the vacation package was non-refundable. We both went, or I'd have wasted 3K for his half... and I was still paying for everything when we were there. But at least you have good memories to look back on and you're freed up to look for someone better for you! Maybe even someone who will take YOU on vacation!

You are a nicer woman than I could ever be. I would either bring someone else along, and if that wasn't possible (ticket not transferable) I would not pay for anything of his. I would let him scrounge and beg for food or just go hungry.
