Today, my boyfriend went to jail for a DUI. In a panic, I rushed to go bail him out. On the way to the jail I was stopped for running a red light. I soon joined my boyfriend in jail with my very own DUI charge. FML

Plain and simple, you are an idiot. Please don't breed.

I hope that both of you die before you have a chance to take out a family in a minivan while drunk driving. YDI.

I CALL THIS A FAKE Do they even mix men and women in the same jail? (re: I soon JOINED HIM IN JAIL) if not, then it sucks that you're both in prison, but do try to be smarter next time.

It was probably just the cell at the local police station, not an actual jail. They probably didn't share a cell, but it's easily possible that they were in the same building.

Jail & prison are different I believe, too.

this didn't necessarily happen today, all FML's just have to start with that. and also, she didn't say she was in the same jail as him, just that she was in jail too. and you can be jailed for drink-driving even if you don't cause an accident.

You dont only go if you cause an accident. You can get pulled over for driving erratically or, in some states, there are DUI checkpoints. Any type of suspicious driving is enough to pull you over, and if you're drunk, you go to jail. Dui = automatic trip to jail.

actually DUI=jail because obviosuly they're not gonna issue you a ticket and send you off STILL driving in your own car while you're STILL drunk. that wouldnt make any sense.

It's an overnight thing and then a ticket, once you sober up they send you home. OP is an idiot for going to bail him out what a demented thing to tie up a bunch of money in.

Not necessarily. My brother got a DUI, and the police drove him home. He did serve a night in jail, but not until a month later.

now and days it's an overnight thing, then court, then a really high fine, and possibly jail time depending. Plus depending on your state (I believe it's depending) DUI usually results in a suspended license.

The only time I've ever heard of someone going to jail for driving under the influence more than overnight was for a guys 13th DUI, and the rest of the time he just had his license suspended for 3 months, and a small fine. It varies HUGELY by state.

Boatkicker: I know of at LEAST 3 states that send you to jail for up to 30 days after only your 2nd offense. California, New Jersey, and South Carolina. (I know people in each that have had to do 30 days on their 2nd) My dad was an idiot and got a DUI in Cali. He ended up losing his license for a full year and had to pay about 10k in fines. It's sad to think that somewhere someone could have 13 DUIs and just basically get a slap on the wrist.

In washington, you do go to jail for DUI, but they only hold you for 12 to 24 hours then release you.

You definatly do go to jail of ur drunk driving lol..

It's fake, if you were brought in on charges of DUI, you'd still be in jail right now and not posting on fml

boatkicker 4

Some places only keep you for a little while. It's entirely possible.

Wrong. You can pick up your drunken step-dad within hours of a DUI and bring him right home! Hooray. Also, if you run a red light, that's a crime and so a DUI would be probable.

You posted this FML- and YOU'RE calling SOMEONE ELSE stupid?? I really, really hate you and your low-life boyfriend.

Doesn't matter how rich you are. If you're drunk, that doesn't get you out any quicker

You're calling someone stupid, when you posted in your name... and got arrested for a DUI...? :/ I hardly think you're in a position to call someone stupid. Be sure to check out your myspace link that is further down the page! Oh, and P.S. GDIAF you reckless, and irresponsible drunk driving twit.

If this is real you both deserve it for doing drugs.

actually, DUI includes ALCOHOL, not just drugs, and also, if you are caught for DUI, they usually put you in a cell until you are sober, then you get your phone call so you can call someone to pick you up, then they give you a fine, and when your sober they put you into a HOLDING CELL. You will only go to a PRISON if you kill someone, if you cause a crash and nobody dies then you will get a very big fine. p.s. did you know that breathalyzers can be very inaccurate sometimes, they will occasionally put you at 4 times the legal limit after you've had only one drink.

And did you know that alcohol IS a drug? So again, and I'll say it slow, their fault for doing drugs.

soooo, anyone that drinks alcohol, no matter how much, deserves to be put in a holding cell?

actually I've heard some people can be over the legal limit after one drink. it depends on your height and bodyweight
