I never got the whole idea of posturing and trying to bully your daughters boyfriend. Are most Dads that insecure and that untrusting of their daughters? If you raise them right, you trust that they are going to pick a good man to date, and if not, they know you have their back. No need for all this alpha male "Oh I'mma **** you up a**hole" trash. Or were the fathers such scum bags in their own youth that they think every young man is like they were?
I'm just going to go ahead and assume you're not a man and therefore not a father. Because only someone who doesn't have the faintest ******* clue how a father feels about his daughter would say something so stupid.
Still he has a point OPs father went a little overboard. When my bf met my dad for the first time he was terrified for a second though my dad wasnt trying to be scary (hes a big guy and knows it while my bf isnt as big and also knows it) that was 13 months ago and my bf still is a little scared of my dad even though the two of them get along very well
Having a daughter doesn't give you a licence to pull a knife on someone. Your daughter may be your life, but that isn't anyone's problem but yours. It doesn't give you the right to be above the law (threatening someone with a knife is against the law).
when my dad first met my boyfriend, he was the nice guy he always is. no scaring or anything. i know that i'm very important to him and that he doesn't want me to get hurt, but he knew i wouldn't pick a douchbag. and guess what? we're still together 4 years later and both my parents love my boyfriend. i think it's dumb to want to scare the boyfriend. he could be around for a long time, so i think it's more important that dad and boyfriend get along well.
i'll admit its a little creepy, but boys are so disrespectful these days. I hope it scared him enough to make sure he always treats you right.
Awww... You got a loving dad who is very protective of you...
Shank you for that story
my big bro did that to my (now ex) boyfriend! he took out his ginormous pocket knife and started twirling it around and stuff, and was all like "so dalton...I wanna talk to you about something" XD it was funny
I ******* hate when fathers do this and everybody goes "aww he's just looking after you". It's not cute nor healthy and it implies distrust in the daughter's decision of who she dates and distrust in her ability to look after herself. There is a difference between making sure your kids don't date dangerous people, and turning into a threatening person yourself.
He might just be joking......
My uncles did that to an old boyfriend. He still cheated on me though.
He's just staring your boyfriend to make sure he stays in check, if your boyfriend stays around, he's a keeper , I know I will be cleaning my shotgun that I never use when I have a daughter.

Is he ******* crazy? What the hell is wrong with him? He's going about this all wrong. That's way too direct. The correct thing to say is, "I have a rusty scalpel, plenty of lidocaine, and an intimate knowledge of male anatomy. Have a nice time tonight."
Did he stab him?!?!??
