Today, my dad told me about how my mother had a bad dream last night and began to scream "Don't take me, take my children!" FML

It could be something good... Like... she could have... won... the... lottery and... Yeah. Never mind. FYL.

Yknow I don't really think it's that bad. It was just a dream. Maybe your dad was joking. Maybe it was a situation like #8 said. "DON'T TAKE ME (TO DISNEYLAND)! TAKE MY CHILDREN!" right? riiiight? I'm way too positive. Don't think it's an FYL or YDI though.. So what do I choose in these types of situations..?

That stinks. And yes, people CAN think in a dream. In a dream anything can happen! O_o

I think it's more of a #12 situation.

you never know maybe she was a having a dream that you were all in a burning building and she was saying to the firefighters "don't take me, take the children"

exactly at what #88 said you never know if it was a dream where she wanted to save you

Could be taken out of context. Don't save me save my children.

I will agree with those who have suggested that it was probably a dream where she was trying to help you. My mother once had the misfortune to actually be in such a situation, when she and my sister were trying to jump into a small lifeboat, and the crewman piloting it pulled away from the sinking (and violently pitching) ship while my mother was trying to pull my sister (in shock at the time) into it. My mother is not the sort of person to say a thing like that, and so what she said when the crewman refused to return to the ship was closer to "Go back or I will kill you" (he very quickly changed his mind about returning), but I could certainly see a mother in that situation say such a thing - there is a certain protective behaviour in many mothers that seems almost instinctual and primal in scenarios where their children are in danger.

That's from "The Simpsons". There's an alien invasion, and Homer says "Please don't abduct me! I have a wife and kids! Take them instead!" (Or something like that...)
