Today, my dad, under threats of disowning me, insisted that I offer my sister a job in my company. I run my own law firm, she is a hairdresser. FML

It's not up to you or your father to supply your sister with a job. Especially if she's under qualified. FYL

The sister should be at least competent at answering phones and scheduling appointsments. If she knows the alphabet she can file. On the other hand if she isn't making a living as a hairdresser do you really want her working at your law firm?

Perfect deal get legal advise and a haircut at the same time

I work at a law firm too. Don't give in to that shit! If your parents don't respect your business, **** them! It's YOUR life, and YOUR business. Plus, it's your livelihood!

So because she's a hairdresser she can't be a secretary or fetch coffee or work in the mail room or any of the other "no qualifications necessary" positions that are avaliable in a law firm?

This may sound ridiculous but hear me out first. You could open a hair salon in your law firm and your sister could work there. I've seen tons of companies, on TV, that have barber shops or hair salons or game rooms and whatnot. Those things improve employee performance, at work, I guess. It's not that employees have fun instead of working. I think they are motivated to work harder and do a better job and, I think, it makes going to work a lot more fun.

lack of education doesn't mean lack of intelligence, or inability to learn on the job, which is what most people do anyway. if you knew your sister is unhappy in her current job, you should have offered.

Lack of education means that you cannot fill certain jobs. There could be a very good reason not to hire her.

1. Is she any good at it? 2. Is this a large firm? This might me a good thing. A quick trim before going to court can't hurt. You don't want either counsil or their clients to look like bums in fron of a judge...
