Today, my dogs broke through our electric fence, one of whom managed to get his collar off. I picked it up and, without thinking, went across the fence line. I screamed like a chihuahua being run over by a bulldozer. FML

37- just go to a corner and think about what you said.

What a jerk off. If its on your hand and it hurt that bad imagine how much it hurts around te poor pups neck. If its an absolute must to have can't you just set the shock lower so it won't hurt as bad.

Don't give the dog an electric collar, simple as. At least you now know how it feels, so at least some good has come of it.

Why do you have an electrical fence with dogs? Guess you got what you deserved! Hopefully that poor little doggy find a good new home!

To the numerous posters who obviously don't understand invisible fences: 1) you can adjust the shock. 2) it is not a constant shock, just a two second shock with a long interval. 3) building a fence is less viable because a) it can depreciate the value of your property b) it's expensive c) depending on where you live it can turn into a zoning or property issue with neighbors d) op might have too much property to fence in and e) dogs can still get over, under, or chew through them. 4) a shock collar does not hurt an animal as it does a human. Consider, dogs have thick skin and fur around their necks because of evolution of breeding and domestication. Dogs have extra protection in this area to protect their trachea and jugular vein if they fight another animal which would go for the kill zone of the throat. 5) invisible fences are intended to keep your animal safe; not to torture them. They could get lost, attacked by another animal whose territory they step in, neighbors or other sick humans could harm them, they could get run over, and finally, op may live in an area with strict leash and containment laws. Op fyl that sucks, and sorry for all the ydi's from people that don't know what they're talking about.

Thanks for the info because everyone comes here for a lecture, really, priceless lol

Well when everyone posts so much invalidity like " shock hurts puppy derp you mean" or ridiculous solutions like "build a fence around your property" like it's a great and feasable option, it's really hard not to comment and rebute all the bs. Sorry my informed and reasoned thinking was too much for you.

Chillax, I was only playing, you actually made good points

Karma's a bitch...or in your case, your bitch.

OP never actually says anything about getting shocked... Did no one else notice this? It very well could have just been a small shock that scared them bad enough to make chihuahua sounds. Also just because it is an electric fence doesn't necessarily mean that it is a shock collar, it might have been one that can be set to vibrate...

Eh. What voltage do you have on that fence? Maybe you ought to raise the dogs properly so you wouldn't need it in the first place. You totally deserve it. "One who digs a pit for others, will often find himself falling in."

Now that you know how that feels maybe take the collars off the dogs. I'm mental imaging this and it's hilarious, thanks for the laugh. Could be worse, you could have pissed your pants too when it shocked you lol.

Your simile doesn't make sense. A chihuahua being run over by a bulldozer wouldn't have the chance to make a noise at all.

Karma's a bitch there are better things for dogs then electric collars

Good. You deserve it for using such devices.
