When a friend of mine was having chemo, she entertained her kids by swapping wigs round through the day...she's take them to school with a short red wig on, pick them up wearing blonde braids, and swap that one for a comfy scarf for the evening....if her kids could handle it, then your family should have the maturity to handle it too - ok, they may be struggling to deal with your illness, but it's not a bed of roses for you either I imagine. Good luck to you x
Congratulations for being such a brave person. You're truly an example for all people going through cancer; I think that if more people could see people like you when they're going through it, you'd truly be an inspiration. I've lost two of the closest people in my life to cancer but they fought it to the end and were an inspiration. Continue on this path - I wish you the best. Good luck! I'm praying for you. xo
Ooow :(, I'm so sorry for you! But did they actually say they are ashamed of you? Maybe they just can't stand seeing you so gravely ill.. Or they are just a bunch of selfish assholes.
oh, swwetheart, i don't think they are embarassed at all. i think it is difficult for them to see you that way, and seeing you with hair will remind them of what you looked like when you were healthier. i think you're incredible, you keep your head up and fight fight fight. laugh a lot and spend time with your friends and family as much you can. you can do it, baby. all my love.
that does suck!! have been through chemo twice myself so I know what it's like. I feel bad cause your family apparently doesn't support you!! I have to say I am lucky cause both times my mom cut all her hair off with me!! good luck to you!!
Don't hate the family, I can imagine it is hard for them to see you that way. So no it doesn't mean they don't love you but it means that they do.
I had to post a comment... I am very sorry for the way they treated you a true loving family will except you for you and what ever you feel they should except as well I hope they will change but some people are just insensitive people and will never change even if it hurts a loved on... stay stronge and always believe in yourself!
@ all of you assholes that are putting this person down, are you guys seriously thinking what you're saying through? I hope you enjoy the cancer when you get it, and have a nice time going through what this person is going through. @ all the people who are encouraging the author of this FML, yay, enjoy your lives! @ The Author of this FML, I'm so sorry, and I hope you don't like your family because they aren't gonna last long with me around.
I am with you. The person's family is horrible.

Two things: First:congrats for your strenght and courage, half the healing process is a mental one, when you know you're gonna make it, you WILL make it! Keep fighting and it will be allright. Second, maybe what is embarrassing your family isn't your illness but the sheer fact that you're ill and that they can't to anything to help you. It's not something they can themselves battle against and it may hurt them a lot to see you without hair, a constant reminder that even if they are your family they can't protect you from everything.. I don't know how to say it in english but : Je t'envoie plein de bonnes ondes, courage!
She has cancer, and all you can comment is you just got owned by your family? Heartless much
