Today, my girlfriend donated most of my book collection because she got me a Kindle for Christmas. Some were signed, including my Harry Potters. FML

Muggles... What do you expect from them?

WHY do people think it's okay to get rid of things that do not belong to them without the owner's consent?!

People who are not avid readers don't realize that actual books won't be replaced, ereaders make it more convenient , but you never throw away books.

What's with people giving away other people's things! I don't get it!

Hollllyyyy shittttt, why is this an FML? This shoul be a courtcase

Be happy she didn't get you a new computer and donate your old one...=p

I have a kindle. It's great for traveling, but I still have my favorite books in physical copies: Harry Potter series, Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice & Fire, etc. I honestly don't know what I would do if someone got rid of those books...even though none of them are signed, I couldn't imagine just reading them through a screen. I would be absolutely heartbroken. I also love how books smell...it's comforting to me. :)

I really hope you broke up with her!!! She's an idiot!

Just because she bought him a kindle doesn't mean he doesn't need the books anymore- not only will some of them probably not be available on kindle, he'll have to buy every single one again, probably costing him hundreds of dollars

Hundreds of dollars? Not even the hardback versions cost that much. Each HP book is about $7.99 on Kindle, which comes out to roughly $56.

Yeah, but a signed copy would cost a great deal more, not to mention it's impossible to get digitally. OP also said it was more than just the HP books, so yeah. Depending on how many, it could easily be hundreds or even thousands of dollars to replace the collection.
