Today, my hair got stuck in my umbrella. I asked for help from passers-by, but all I got was weird looks as they hurried past me. FML

I really hate people. Whenever I go to big cities when I try to help homeless people or help people who just need help I get weird looks and people telling me I shouldn't. As human beings we should help eachother out not ignore or get mad at people. It seems like a really simple thing to say but so many people don't get it

I feel you OP, as a child I got caught in an escalator and people started stepping over me and walking away. It took about a full minute before someone bothered to do anything about it.

I really don't know how someone could help you, except perhaps by holding the umbrella. If you weren't being clear in how and what you asked, I'd say the odd looks were warranted.

Years ago, as I was a teen, my foot got stuck in the crowded bus door as it was closing, crushing my ankle slightly but surely. I was in a lot of pain and begged a girl who witnessed my ordeal to tell the driver to re-open the door. She just turned away and ignored me. I was in the middle of the bus and had to shout out to the driver to reopen the door. I really thought that my ankle was broken, luckily it was just badly bruised.

I'm not the nicest person, but if i see someone in a bad situation, i always try to help them. It's just the right thing to do. People are in to much of a hurry to do the right things.

( Bilingual pun alert, Canadians will appreciate. ) People in cities are so selfish . They could probably tell you had a simple umbrella malfunction, but ...Rihanna ciré.

Every time I try to say hi to people or be friendly they look at me like I'm crazy. Now I don't like people

And then there are the people who set up false things to trick, scam, or hurt other people. This makes the desire that people may have to help just dissipate in a survival instinct. So you could call it selfish, yes. This is why I think that pranks should not be readily accepted in society.

My hair gets caught in everything. I feel for you there, OP. The general public are selfish and ignorant, though, but I hope someone helped you eventually!

you don't suppose they might have confused you for a karakasa obake, would they?

I'm sorry, OP. Those people were dicks. I would definitely have helped you - I know how frustrating it is to have something in your hair!
