Maybe not pay for Internet/phone and pay for your heating our house instead?

Heh, I'm in a similar situation myself. Thankfully my teeth are intact. For some its not so easy to just "Turn on heat". My entire heating system needs replaced which costs in the thousands. Space heaters are not an option either due to dogs running around. I feel your pain OP.

I feel you. We were without power for 24 hours straight this weekend and the high for the day was only 20 degrees F (0 with the wind chill.) It was quite romantic with my wife though; snuggling by the fireplace with some candles and hot chocolate and later cuddling in bed with some extra blankets.
