Today, my husband and I have been trying to buy a house and start a family together. Now I find out that he just spent $5000 on comic books. FML

Were the comic books in your detailed budget or listed in your plan of action? if not, or you don't have a budget and a POA then you are not "trying" to buy a house, you are just thinking about it.

What??? If you are "trying to buy a house" when would $5000 on comicbooks be in a budget or plan of action?? Thats a quarter of a deposit on a house in western Sydney. The husband went and bought the comics without her knowledge or consent...

15- I think you were trying to look really intelligent. Sorry, you failed.

:o they better be worth it. Probably not. How many can he possibly buy for $5000?

The sad thing is, some comic books (rare ones) could be worth $5000 by themselves :/ who knows how many he bought

Long term (depending on the comics and condition) those comic books could be worth a LOT. They could maybe even buy you a house :) Short term: your down $5000 :/ Take it either way OP

He's just getting good a good library together to ensure your future children have great reading material. You're a lucky gal!

You should admire his passion.

I think that falls under divorce territory

Im pretty sure there are worse things he could be doing, like cheating or some bullshit. Yeah he blew 5 grand, but I've seen worse

Not really.... She should support his love for comic books if she wants him to support her love for shoes or whatever else

It was most likely his own money. I bet most of the negative comments so far are just upset they don't have that much money to spend on a hobby of their own.

It seems to be their shared money or it wouldn't be a FML.
