Today, my husband received the "antique" samurai sword that he bought on Craigslist with $399.99 of our money. He only shared my outrage at the waste of money when he opened the package, only to find a toy sword along with a note saying, "HAHA, TROLLED." FML

Try to sue him for false advertising.

I'd take legal action against the scamming thieves

This is why there's plenty of warnings on the site about this, I would only buy locally from that site where I could go see it myself.

I wish your husband wasn't so naive about buying things on Craigslist. This is exactly why you should meet the people in person, and inspect what you buy before buying it. Especially something that expensive.

Sorry that happened OP, your husband is still dumb though

I would be upset at my husband and doubly at the jerkface that sent you a fraudulent item.

If you payed with paypal then notify them and they will have your money returned. Either way I would still contact the police as this is a deliberate fraud. That is not trolled that is theft and grand larceny if it is over 250.

I collect swords too. I have also experienced that, I feel sorry for him.

Wait, this is a real toy Samurai sword? If it was used by the kid of _Tokugawa Ieyasu the most powerful Samurai in 15 century Japan. Then you got a great deal.
