Today, my husband refused to let our 7-week-old daughter have a pacifier, because he doesn't want her growing up to be a "whore." FML

msmidnight1965 tells us more.

We have those orthodontic ones that help with oral development. They also resemble the nipple during breast feeding.

This is your daughter. This is your daughter on pacifiers.

Did you guys by any chance forgot to wear a condom? :S

Whoa. Well he can come up with a way to calm and soothe the baby. And tell him babies inherently suck that's how they get milk from their mothers. Call him a ***** for sucking. Hope he learns.

Lol sometimes we think illogically. My husband thinks our son will turn out gay if he watches Barney. Sheesh

In the Freudian beliefs (which is highly controversial), by taking away the pacifier he is inhibiting her growth out of the oral fixation state (children put things into the mouth to gain [sexual] satisfaction); therefore, the child (as Freud believes) will never pass this state and will be stuck in the oral stage of development, where then, the child will be fixated with placing things in the mouth. Thus rises "a *****." !WARNING!: This is a controversial perspective of psychology and is not widely spread; therefore, do not assume this is what makes little girls into uncontrollable sex fiends of whom open the gates to all those around.

lol No way...Wanting things in your mouth can mean anxiety/insecurity...I know because I get the urge to chew on a straw, eat(even when not hungry), pick on my lip with my fingers and chew excessive gum whenever I'm stressed and worrying. Nothing sexual here.
