Today, my mom had the option of choosing anywhere in the world where we could go on vacation. We live in the USA and she chose to fly to Texas, rent an RV, and drive to Florida. Anywhere in the world. FML

hey, atleast it's a vacation.. right? not Rio or Rome but it beats sitting at home

From what I understand, Texans believe they ARE the world, so maybe she felt she had no other choice.

Good luck being entertained on that drive... 10 hours minimum if you're landing in Dallas

Houston to Destin is about 10 hours. If you want to go to Miami (305. Mr. Worldwide!) and the Keys, add about another 10 hours to that. While the destinations are fine, the decision to drive between them is muy loco.

Dude, texas is great! Well mostly only dallas and austin.

Wow rude I was born and grew up here, it's not my favorite state, but Its really cool! Especially austin!

It's not cool, I hate it here. Austin sucks too, it's filled with weird people and the cops are assholes.

Did your mother win a competition to take her family anywhere in the world, or something? If that's the case, truly a FYL indeed.

If I had that chiice, then I would have considered London as a destination. But my destination of choice would be someplace in Japan (I have a friend there).

Dont worry op, u'll have fun either way :)

wow. im so sorry OP. i love to travel internationally, been to over 40 different countries. all the posters here who are afraid of foreign travel make me sad, honestly. those idiots who think all 300,00,000 americans are the same also make me sad, for the exact same reason - ignorance and useless fear. some of the best places i've been: india, thailand, japan, netherlands, france, morocco, spain, nepal, jamaica, greece. there are many others - there have been very few places that were so awful as to have nothing good about visiting them. my next trip will be to istanbul this summer. if you have never been outside your own country, you are living an incomplete life, in my opinion. You need to travel to learn who you really are, outside of the context of your home. You learn how cultures are different, but people are the same

Excuse me? I am an American and I have been to a lot of places outside of the states. Take your American-hating comment and shove it buddy. I hate comments like yours, they show not only your intellect but also your complete lack of a mental filter. Get bent.
