Today, my mom made fun of me because I'm 16 and have never had a boyfriend, then bragged that at my age she was already pregnant with me. FML

Thank you everyone for then encouraging words and sympathy for me. I would like to say my mom is one of the greatest people in my life and is very intelligent. She had been dating my dad for 2 years before and they got married and they are still married. She is certainly not a dead-beat mom. I think she was just being spiteful when that happened. She apologized later. She taught me that what she did is not what I want to do in my life. Sure what she said got me down, but outside dating I have a great life!

Don't let what she said get you down! Boyfriends and pregnancies are definitely not priorities at the age of 16. What she said should've been the other way around, praising you for not having ever been pregnant.

Great to hear that your Mum isn't as bad as we feared, and also that she apologised for upsetting you. One of the benefits of a good relationship is that you can learn from the results of other people's choices before you have that choice yourself.

You should have a boyfriend when you feel ready for one. Don't let anyone pressure you. It's your choice. I'm glad your mom apologized for her unnecessary bragging. It's better off to wait until you have a career, a home of your own, and a great husband (or just boyfriend if you don't believe in marriage) before you have children. Make sure you are stable. I am very proud that you are making your decisions wisely. I'm also proud you still stuck up for your mom saying she's a good parent since she took back what she said. Stay wise and smart, kiddo. :)

Don't let it get you down, OP! I "chose" to focus on my studies through high school and college (ie no social life) and didn't have my first bf til 24. I'm glad I waited cuz it saved me a lot of drama and heartache and he's a real man I can count on. Wait for the right guy, nothing wrong with that ;)

I know what you mean OP. By the time my mom was 17, she dated half her school, and I just barely started dating at 16. I've had 2 boyfriends in the past year, and se teases me. A lot. I think she's just messing with me and is no way a bad mom. Her and my dad were together 6 months before getting married. Still, it can hurt my feelings and make me feel bad about myself. I don't believe that it's right for calling her mom a ****. Life happens, and it happens for a reason. Even though her mom got pregnant at 16, it gave her the gift of life, and I'm sure she doesn't regret having her daughter. It could happen to anyone.
