Today, my mom told me she'd scheduled me for a cleaning with my hometown dentist. When I reminded her that, according to my university's COVID guidelines, students shouldn't leave the county unless there's an emergency, she threw a hissy fit and told me I'm being "combative" and "looking for an excuse to fight." FML

Today, I had 3 teeth pulled. Due to the anaesthesia, my mom came along to drive me home. Halfway through my surgery, she decided to leave and go shopping with her friend. She even left a note with the receptionist, saying that I needed to take on my own adult responsibilities. FML

Today, my dentist called and told me that the surgery to remove my wisdom teeth - which I desperately need and saved for a year to be able to afford - will actually cost nearly $2000 more than originally stated. The surgery is supposed to be in three days. FML

Extreme late fees

Today, I had an appointment to pull some wisdom teeth. I wrote the wrong time in my calendar. Showed up an hour late and they didn't pull the one tooth that actually hurts. Now I've got the pay for the time I was late, plus wait until November to pull the rest. I waited 5 months for this appointment due to the coronavirus. FML

Today, I found out that instead of having four wisdom teeth, I have eight. They all have to be removed as soon as possible, which happens to be over the Christmas break. I get to spend my whole vacation in excruciating pain and a swollen face to boot. FML

Today, my mom got angry that I wasn't responding to her texts. I couldn't because I was in the dentist's chair. She'd dropped me off, and after returning from errands, sent the text from the waiting room. FML

It's not about being owed anything. It's about being promised an amazing opportunity in celebration of your sixteenth birthday, and then suddenly being told it's not going to happen anymore because your mom has suddenly decided you're getting your wisdom teeth pulled earlier than planned- which is obviously not for her birthday, whether it costs or not- and as it was clearly already planned for later also means her mom is at least partially lying or hiding the truth. It's just not a good feeling all round.

you were gettng a ******* trip to Europe for your sixteenth birthday??? know what I got? my dad's weird friend tried to slow dance with me, and my mom threatened to get my dog an abortion if she was going to have "mixed puppies". highlight of the evening, my parents gave me their old car. which they then sold a week later. you might say I'm bitter.
