You should tell her he was abusive, but honestly, even if he wasn't she shouldn't do that. Exes are exes for a reason. BTW good for you for dumping the jerk.

My mother has done that to me too. I got rid of him by showing my mom texts of him call her a bitxh, etc. etc.
