Today, my mom was criticizing how I can't handle taking care of any living thing because I'm too irresponsible. We had a huge argument so I went back to my apartment, only to find that my fish had died. I forgot I had a fish. FML

Today, my friend is furious with me because while I was watching her various fish for two weeks, I failed to feed her favorite fish and it died. The reason I didn't take care of it was because she never told me she had it, that it was in her room unlike the rest of the fish, so I never saw it. FML

Today, I was making the daily commute to work when suddenly my mother calls me, crying that there's been a death in the family, then abruptly hangs up. I speed home, to find my mother holding the tiny corpse of a fish that she got 2 weeks ago. I got fired for being late to work. FML

Today, I bought a fish. I put the tank on top of the fridge so my cat wouldn't get at it. I'd forgotten to buy some things for its tank, so I quickly ran out to get them. When I got home, I saw the tank destroyed on the floor, and my cat devouring my fish. I had the fish for less than an hour. FML

Today, I was walking to the pet store to buy a month's worth of fish food for my fish so I wouldn't have to come back for a while. For fish food it was expensive. It was also surprisingly heavy and I had to carry it back to my house. When I got home, I saw my fish floating at the top of its bowl. FML

Today, I heard a loud crashing noise. I ran into the kitchen to see what it was. My cat had knocked over my fish bowl and had my Beta in her mouth. After scolding her and rescuing it, I decided to clean its bowl. When I went to dump some of the water in the sink, my fish went down the drain. FML

get an Ecosphere. I have had mine almost 6yrs now. It has 4 little shrimp enclosed in a glass ball and everything they need to survive is inside. all they need is to be in indirect sunlight, room temperature.

at least it doesn't seem to be genetic, otherwise the mom would have not remembered she had a daughter and therefore could not have regretted it. Thus the aforementioned sterilization plan most likely will not have the desired effect. Best bet is to put the OP in a cage at a pet store and hope someone will think she is cute enough to take home. Then she can have to depend on someone feeding her and perhaps house breaking her. Once she is "forgotten" for a few days in a cage maybe she will learn the error of her ways.

It's okay that your fish died - a lot of people just need time and experience to be responsible, but YDI for being a haughty douche and getting into a huge argument for something you are wrong about. At least posting this FML proves that you finally admit it, and I do think with all these harsh comments you've learned your lesson 100 times over. I agree with a previous post - start with a cactus plant! haha
