Today, my mother won't let me intern at a prestigious college, working with graduate students and professors, and being paid, because she doesn't want to drive me. FML

Great opportunity to get your license perhaps?

Is there no other way to get there? Perhaps a bus, or bike, if not too far? There has to be a way no?

I guess it is time to either learn to drive or figure out the bus schedule.

There is more than one form of transportation.

You definitely deserve it. I mean yeah this is a pretty crappy situation she's putting you in, but if you have designs on interning at a so called prestigious college, why the hell don't you have your license yet?

@103 A license doesn't do anything for someone who can't afford to buy a car.

Don't you have a license at your age? If not, YDI.

I was about to sympathize until I read the fact that you can't drive/don't have a car because if your not responsible enough for a car you shouldn't really be working in a responsible position.

Why does everyone assume OP is able to drive? I can't drive due to chronic fatigue, I sometimes can barely hold myself up much less keep attention on the road. Furthermore, not everyone is able to get a license. Such as, but not limited to, those who suffer from seizures, those who are hard of seeing, those who experienced a traumatizing experience while driving. Furthermore, some people here are correlating not having a license with immaturity? If OP can get this opportunity, they're clearly mature enough to have sought for it. Internships don't drop out of the sky.

And? There are planes, trains, cars, uber, taxi, feet, bicycle, friends, ridepools, buses, and a million other ways to make that happen... Not understanding here

So... How about getting there yourself?
