Today, my mother won't let me intern at a prestigious college, working with graduate students and professors, and being paid, because she doesn't want to drive me. FML

Great opportunity to get your license perhaps?

Is there no other way to get there? Perhaps a bus, or bike, if not too far? There has to be a way no?

Well think about it, how far away is this? Maybe it's across the country or something and the mother might have other responsibilities.

Depending on the internship, yes absolutely. Don't "really" me. They made no indication whether or not they wanted a one time drive to a location far away or driving everyday to a closer location.

Ride the bus, work out a car pool, there are so many options these days its ridiculous. When I was 15 I road a buss 50 mins to my first real job. Stop whining and figure it out if it really matters to you.

You cant blame her for not wanting to drive you if you had your license and your sibling always wanted a ride you would feel the same way

News flash - people that drive hate people that don't drive.

Oooh really? Let me guess, you don't drive and you're just salty 'cause someone that does wouldn't drive you.

Quite the opposite. I do drive and am sick of non-driving friends assuming that because I've gone to the trouble of owning and maintaining a vehicle while they spend their money on holidays I'm somehow obliged to ferry them everywhere.

pull on your big girl panties and drive yourself or take the bus. problem solved.

If OP could drive there on their own, this FML wouldn't exist.

if she's old enough to intern at a college, then she's old enough to drive. it's her own fault she doesn't have transportation in her own or can't think on her own to take a bus if she really wanted it.

If you're old enough to intern, you should be able to drive.

Who says they can't drive. They might not have their own car to use.

Your mom has her own life. Expecting her to drop everything and drive you around whenever you need is a little selfish. Get your license, ask a friend (and pay them for their trouble/gas), call an uber. Do what you have to do but don't expect it to be done for you.

You're an adult OP, you can do as you please.
