Today, my parents told me that due to my lacking height and weight, I legally have to sit in a booster seat in the car from now on. I'm nineteen. FML

Um, if you aren't smart enough to look up the law to confirm it, then you deserve sitting in the booster seat. I'm not sure of the exact age cut off (I don't know if it's by state or federal for that matter) but I promise you, it doesn't apply to you. BTW, the weight cut off, at least here, is 40 pounds. If you are under 40 pounds, you have bigger problems than the booster seat.

Here it's 80 pounds. I never realized other places were so low. The height limit here is 4'9". Apparently the maximum age is 8, and it would appear that you don't need a booster seat over that age regardless of size (though they're not very clear about it), but all those commercials they have on TV strongly imply otherwise. They never mention age at all, just say that anyone below the size limit needs a booster seat. I mean, I was 11 before I met the size requirement, so I would think that little detail would be kind of important. In some states the age requirement means you MUST be in a booster seat UP TO that age regardless of size, but you still have to use one after that age if you don't meet the size requirements. There is also an upper age limit, which varies by state just like everything else. Other states, you have to be below both the age and the size in order to need a booster seat.
