FYL for having parents who actually follow those regulations. I thought that the booster seat law was like ESRB or COPPA, in the way that nobody actually follows them. I was put in a regular passenger seat when I was 5 and I'm fine. But maybe your parents were just joking and weren't serious, in which case I have no comment.
