Wow, what a way to tell your daughter that you hope she stays home forever, lives in your basement and does not find love with another human being ever. "Thanks for the confidence boost mom and dad."
I'm kinda nerdy too. I'm sure you're not ugly :) and your parents were probably kidding! My parents say I'm ugly all the time too. Unless they're serious as well and I'm really an ugly nerd too...
53 I agree with that to a point, but the key word you used was typically. 48 made that comment saying the other poster couldn't be a nerd because she was a teen mum without knowing anything about her, and other people have voted her up. That's what annoys me. There's a stigma there that yes, may apply to some but not to all, and I don't like it. #58: I know a few 30 year olds who shouldn't have kids because they're still too selfish and immature. Is it too difficult to believe that having kids early is the making of some people, they grow up quick, step up to the mark and raise their kids in a decent, happy, not-on-welfare (or depending on our parents) family unit? Because I have, and it annoys me when people have so many negative things to say about something they actually know nothing about. I have a lot of respect for other teen mothers, because I know that it wasn't always a choice but now it's happened they make the best of it, and it's a hard enough thing to do without the people like you looking down on them.
A bit harsh eh? Sorry..... Maybe you'll get hotter with age
Makes sense
71 That's says it all. Do you really think MTV pick responsible parents for their shows? Of course not, because that would be boring, they want car crash tv. The fact you admitted you know some good teenage parents just proves my point. I'm not in any way being an advocate for teenage pregnancy, I'm saying that #48's comment was unjust because teenage mothers aren't all like that, and it's unfair to tar us all with the 'useless dumb idiot' brush. She didn't know the other girl, but everyone finds it acceptable to use the fact you have a child early on in your life as a stick to beat you with. If I said all nerds never have sex or all blonde people are dumb would that be fair OR true? No. I don't see why this kind of stereotyping is ok, but thanks to MTV and other shows it's only getting worse. Wasn't so long ago that getting married and having kids early was perfectly acceptable, I don't get why it's now such a looked-down upon thing.
A lot of guys (at least the ones I've met) actually love genuinely nerdy girls. I wouldn't worry about it! As for the "ugly" part, I'm sure they're just joking (or they're just being dicks). I used to be more awkward-looking than I am now (hard to believe, I know) but as you get older, you tend to grow out of it at least a little.
Same here *high five*
