Today, my patient had her call bell on. When I went to see what she needed, she replied that she was very itchy and could not reach to scratch the itch. I basically got called in to scratch my patient's crotch. FML

So you're upset that some poor woman was so uncomfortable that she had to swallow her pride and press a button to get someone else to scratch a private area? Perhaps patient care is not the right field for you. F HER life, and grow up OP

ruberduckie 94.hopefully you get this since I can only leave single comments from my phone. I was in the hosputal for child birth. I needed sleep and all they let me have was 6 hrs in 4 days so yeah I asked for everything no matter what time it was. why don't you go back to your bitter job and wait on your patients cuz sometimes people in pain need that.

I used to work as a private duty/home health RN for a patient who had ALS. He was on vent (i had to read his lips when he spoke-not easy!) paralyzed, but could still feel sensation (ALS attacks the motor neurons but sensory neurons remain intact) so I had to glove up and scratch him plenty of times. Sure it's not fun to have to do, but put yourself in your patient's place.

You were the one who decided to go to nursing school. YDI

Don't be such a heartless person; think about how embarressing it must be for her. Bring in such a bad state, that she has to call for someone else to scratch :/
