Must not have inspected it very well before signing.
Why didn't you have the home inspected first? That sucks, but you really should get the house inspected before making an offer.
For people saying he should have inspected it first he probably did. There are ways to clear roaches for a couple of days (bombs) or even a few hours just so that people can come look at the house. sad but true. as for Op you can take him to court and any judge will make him pay for the house to be put up to par. especially with a baby on the way. roaches are known to cause asthma and other problems when it's an infestation. Hopefully it all works out for you hun.
The contract legally has to be taken back within 24hrs. Try that if its not too late
There are laws that protect you. You don't have to get out of the contract to have them fumigate and take care of the pest problem.
YDI for not knowing the #1 priority of moving is getting the inspections done.
Pretty sure that's illegal, he HAS to take care of the problem, depending on where you live.
Don't blame the landlord, this **** nugget should have inspected the place first. Roaches would have been obvious if he'd inspected the place.

You didn't inspect the home before leasing it???
It's his legal responsibility as a landlord to provide you with a livable situation. Mice and cockroaches ain't a livable situation. Have him bring in an exterminator.
