Today, my roommate confronted me about my eating disorder. She described in length how emaciated my chest has become and how she wants to help. Except I don't have an eating disorder. My sternum is deformed and I have only recently become confident enough to wear low-cut tops. FML

People suck, OP. don't listen to them. Your sternum isn't your fault and I bet you're gorgeous.

Aw, that is really terrible. They didn't know and were just trying to help, but that doesn't make sucks any less.

I can only guess this roommate was not a good enough friend to you for you to tell her about your sternum? Good for you, though, for getting up that confidence. And she really was only trying to help.

Dude that sucks. A friend of mine had the same thing, in middle school he said he ate cereal out of it.

I know a guy who was born with 2 complete sets of rib cages. One overlapping the other. Punching his chest is like hitting a brick wall and the punch doesn't even bother him.

Hey, feel good about having the confidence to wear low-cut tops now. Confidence is attractive. And don't worry too much about your roommate. Sounds like she was genuinely concerned and just trying to look out for you. That's a good thing.

For real? my dad makes sure i eat everyday because apparently i look like i'm malnourished and the reason for that is he broke my sternum when he stepped on it two years ago and doesn't believe he did anything.

at least you know she cares about u. she didn't know ur condition so it's not her fault.

Well at least you know if you did have an eating disorder, she would be an amazing friend and confront you. Even though she made a mistake, she was being a good friend. But still, that sucks but dont loose confidence, u probably look amazing anyways!

wow...don't feel bad...i'm sure ur absolutely beautiful.

Considering this is in the comments of FML, I don't think she feels any better.

I had pectus carinatum, and had to wear a brace to get rid of it. I know how you feel i was really shy about it aswell and didnt want to acknowledge it, but there are ways to fix it without surgery in some cases.
