maybe she was just asking because you've been together a long time? it doesnt necessarily mean she's ruined the surprise and if she has, be happy you've had time to prepare your acceptance speech ;)

Good question, but I didn't really wonder about it, because sometimes the guy talks to the girl's family before proposing, so maybe that happened in this case.

How is it ruining a surprise? Usually when someone asks they are talking about in the last week or so, not in the past hour or whatever. She was probably just asking in a general sense on for that specific day.
