Today, my sister came over for a visit. I was going to surprise her with the news that I had spontaneously gotten a cat. The first thing she told me when she came in was that she ran over my neighbor's cat. None of my neighbors have cats. FML

I agree with #1. But your sister is a bitch for not watching where she drives.

most ppl keep their NEW KITTENS inside, or at least not at the road.. It sucks, but some really bad decisions on your part :(

It also depends on where the OP lives. I have always had outside cats (that come in) as we live in the country down a sedom used dirt road. My grandmother had cats thay stayed outside as well, although she lived in town. it was a small town thugh and down less traveled road where people slow their ass down. All those cats turne dout fine and lived long lives. If I ever lived in a bigger city, or even or a more traveld road, they would be inside cats, but I dont and maybe the OP does as as well. She is not a bad owner for letting the cat out. Now, if she threw the cat in front of an oncoming car, she would. and #18 the sister is not a bitch fot running over an animal. Not unless she did it on ourpose or laughed about it.

That is so sad :[ I'm sorry. I'm sure your sister feels really bad about it, no one wants to hit an animal, and even if people don't care about animals they generally don't want to **** up their cars. A couple of nights ago I was driving and turning into my neighborhood when I saw 4 eyes flash in the road. Two outdoor cats were sleeping in the street! I almost killed them, luckily I stopped in time but even then they didn't move, I had to get out of my car and pick them up and put them on the sidewalk. They are sweeties and I know the owner but sometimes cats lack common sense. If I had a cat it would never be an outdoor cat.

Inside only! You wouldn't let your two-year-old wander the neighborhood unsupervised, would you? Ugh.

yes. yes i would. it puts hair on their chest. those two year olds need to grow a pair and be a man. joke. dont freak out.

They aren't two year olds though. They're fully grown, curious cats. It's not a big deal if they go outside, and if they get hit it is the driver's fault unless the cat ran out at the very last minute.

First of all you shouldn't let your cat outside in the first place. They get hit by cars or people kill them for fun. Second, run her over.

As #19 said, if OP lives in the country, or at the very least on a seldom used road, it is perfectly okay to allow a cat to go outdoors. In my family's case, a few years back we had a horrid mole problem in our yard, and it was actually recommended to us to get a cat to hunt them instead of paying for poisons to be laid out. We rescued one from a shelter, and she's turned out to be one of the best cats we've had. In response to #15, not only is she spayed (as is the general rule when adopting from shelters), she refuses to "piss/shit" outside. She comes inside to use the litterbox, eat, sleep, play with the other cats, whatever. Cats are not the horrible creatures some posters here are making them out to be. Sure, you may get the occasional oddball, but that goes for any species, including our own.

Just because so many people let their cats outside doesn't make it right. I don't want your cat going in my yard or digging up my plants. Keep your cats indoors and they won't get run over. Besides, this was a dumb cat if it didn't know to get out of the way of cars.

Outdoor kitties tend to get run over. It is a fact of life that you have to accept.

Yeah, we call it Cat Flattening. Its all based on a point system. Good game to play on the way home from the bar.

The cat didn't mess up the car did it? Now that would be a FML!
