Today, my teacher told me that she couldn't find my hand-written essay on the Renaissance, and that I have to re-do it all by tomorrow. I later saw my essay on her desk, covered in a massive coffee stain that made virtually everything unreadable. FML

Spill coffee on your grade sheet and demand she redo it all

The fact she's giving you one day to re-do an essay SHE lost is already showing how "great" of a teacher she is, which doesn't really make the next bit surprising. Had she actually lost the paper, she should at least give you more time to re-write it. FYL, OP.

Take it off her desk and turn it in again the next day.

I see a lot of people saying "it's your fault for not typing your essay on a computer", so I'd like to point out that OP is French (or simply studying in France), and in France most teacher have you hand write the essay unless specified otherwise. Ideally you should still have a copy, but it's not like (s)he could have expected his/her teacher to be such a ****.

Type it next time :) whether she likes it or not. This way you'll have a spare ;) in case he decided to spill coffee on it again!

As I said previously, we can assume that OP is studying in France, where you have to hand write essays unless told otherwise.

Grab it as proof. Take her to the principal and ask in front of him/her why you have to redo it. When the teacher bitches. Pull it out as proof. Hopefully it will be enough proof to fight it. Unless your principal is a dick.

I hope you took it off her desk. You need to turn her in to the principal and school board.

I hope you did something about that, because that pure and simple is not right. And you should NEVER handwrite and essay!! Or if you do, have some drafts spare at the least

Yes, because people have always had computers and printers. ALWAYS! Tbh it's only become common practice in the last 10-15years and you can still get coffee all over a printed one. I thought common sense would dictate you would make a copy though, virtual or handwritten.

When the teacher wants something handwritten then you have to do it? It does not hurt your human rights or something if you handwrite something once in a while. And even if she has a draft or the whole thing on computer she still has to write it down again which takes time.

I'm so happy we're supposed to turn everything in electronical. And even if we weren't, there's no way my teachers would do that, they're actually decent and admit their own mistakes :/ Ugh, so much responsibility comes with being a teacher, live up to it. Fyl, OP :(

This happened to me. I went to the assistant head.
