#34, except for everyone who hopes for an A* at GCSE English, which actually requires that one of your essays be handwritten. I'd imagine there's a similar thing going on for OP, which is why it was handwritten in the first place when OP clearly has access to a computer. OP, if I were you, I'd have taken a photograph of my ruined essay to take to the teacher's superior. At least that way, even though you'd still have to re-write it, the teacher might be properly chastised. Also, always do the first draft on a computer, so you can save it.
OMG I had a math teacher like that once!!! She spilt tea on like everyone's quiz papers! Oh yeah and my French teacher used to actually LOSE OUR TESTS.
I once had a teacher like that. You always had to make a dated copy of your paper to prove you did it.
Not to mention the egos of everyone else on FML...
Strangely, I wouldn't put this above my own teacher. In the future, remember that Xerox is your friend: keep a scanned copy of your finished report on your computer.
Why didn't you type it?
Where does it say that the essay had to be presented specifically in a hand written form?
Where it says the FML is from France.. We have to hand write everything here (at least in most schools) ;)
Cool! France!

Spill coffee on your grade sheet and demand she redo it all
The fact she's giving you one day to re-do an essay SHE lost is already showing how "great" of a teacher she is, which doesn't really make the next bit surprising. Had she actually lost the paper, she should at least give you more time to re-write it. FYL, OP.
