Today, my teacher was talking about anorexia and bulimia. Midway through the lesson, she stopped and knowingly asked if I wanted to share my experiences with the class. I don't have an eating disorder, just a screwed-up metabolism. FML

Even though you don't have a disorder, that's horribly wrong of her to call you out on it in front of the whole class.

You're teacher is ignorant.. Wow. sorry OP !

When my fiancee was a child his doctors accused his parents of starving him because he was so skinny. The doctors put him on medication to help him gain weight and threatened his parents that if he didn't they'd call child services. They got through that ok but now his metabolism is messed up from the meds so he doesn't gain weight much if at all.

I'd report her to the principal, dean, whatever applies. That's incredibly rude of her to call you out in front of the class and ask you to talk about a disease she assumed you have. That's rude and should be illegal to draw attention to a student's problems, whether it's true or not. If I had, say diabetes, I wouldn't want my professor to let the whole class know about it. Your health problems aren't the concern of the students who, thanks to her, might think you lied and really do have an eating disorder now.

What was your teacher thinking anyway? It's not okay to just call someone out like that, anorexic or not :(

People ask me that all the time, just because I refuse to eat where anyone can see me. It's really rude.

She can probably get fired for that... That is a horrible thing to say, and OP... Your metabolism isn't "screwed up", just different from most.

I'm sorry you had to endure that OP, I can relate too..it sucks to have high metabolism

Talk to the principal. The teacher had no right to single you out and assume you have an eating disorder

Next class you should ask your teacher to share her binge eating disorder.
