Today, my teacher was talking about anorexia and bulimia. Midway through the lesson, she stopped and knowingly asked if I wanted to share my experiences with the class. I don't have an eating disorder, just a screwed-up metabolism. FML

Even though you don't have a disorder, that's horribly wrong of her to call you out on it in front of the whole class.

You're teacher is ignorant.. Wow. sorry OP !

Even if you do have an ED, the worst thing one can do is to bring it out there in front of everyone - that would shut down a chance for a desperately needed conversation. that was wrong on the teacher's part and I hope she realizes that. I'm sorry! i have a too slow metabolism and people just think I'm lazy and fat on purpose :-(

Not exactly in the same vein here but I have low blood pressure, and for a long time I thought that I had trouble with hills cuz I don't walk enough, but when I started walking all the time and found I still had a lot of trouble with hills the assumed explanation turned to a circulation of oxygen problem (I haven't actually been told that by a doctor, it was a casual livingroom diagnosis, so I could be way off) My point being I took A Lot of shit for being out of shape and lazy, and I'm a normal weight, so I sympathise

How inappropriate and completely rude of her, whether you have an eating disorder or not that is very rude and I would of told her so in front of the class! Go to the head of the school and make a formal complaint, and better yet get the teacher to apologize in front of the class and or explain the difference between naturally thin and a disorder. My sister got teased at HS (she is older than me 6ft 1 1/2 and a US size6-8, eats like a horse) for being far too thin and she was also very pretty and still is, but when she got older and grew into herself she looked fab, although still thin, she has achieved a lot more than most people. Maybe the teacher is jealous of you.

Your sister sounds like an awesome person, I'm glad the teasing didn't stunt her ability to lead a good life. I applaud her

That sucks. I have a friend who is too sick for her age. When she worked where I do, other women would hatefully harass her from time to time. We are all made different, and I hope you can move past that!

It's kinda sad that she just called on you like that. Maybe you could ask where her thought process led her to believing a normal girl was Anorexic or Bulimic.
