Today, not long after having had my college volleyball scholarship confirmed, I broke my ankle after stepping on and tripping over a toy my baby sister had left out. No scholarship and no college whatsoever now. FML

im OP.and the break was bad enough that the scholarship was revoked. im not gonna be able to play volleyball for a few years due to ligament damage. im an outside hitter and i wont be able to jump. i could switch to libero but i wouldnt even manage to red shirt. my grades are not high enough for academic entrance

Eye for an eye. Tooth for a tooth. BROKEN ANKLE FOR A BROKEN ANKLE. Siblings. *sigh*

That really sucks! What about academic scholarships?

Something like that happened to me to. Got a scholarship for baseball, a week later BOOM! torn rotator cuff.

...over a temporary injury? What kind of dumbasses work in THAT admissions department? FYL.

Ankle injuries rarely heal anywhere near completely. So many things to tear, scar tissue buildup, not to mention the recovery time required is insane so no one sits on their ass the whole time.

Well, that just don't seem right...where something relatively minor like this (as opposed to, say, having your foot severed) can screw up a person's entire life...

Omg tht sucks. I fell like complete pity :(

Maaaannnn that's so shitty...won't they understand and still give it to you?

Stanford awards athletic scholarships. Do some research.

To people saying ydi: **** YOU JUDGEMENTAL *****, YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THE OP'S FINANCIAL SITUATION, JUST BECAUSE SHE GOT INJURED, PRACTICALLY RUINING HER CHANCE AT THAT SCHOLARSHIP, DOESNT MEAN YOU CAN RIDICULE THE OP MORE ON HOW HE/SHE DOESNT HAVE A BACK UP PLAN, BTW STUDENT LOANS ARE A REALLY BAD IDEA FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE RIDING ON SCHOLAESHIPS, dumb *****

Believe me, I know what your going through and I'm dealing with it myself right now. All I could say is just don't give up hope just yet.

You definitely should at least have some academic scholarships
