Today, not long after having had my college volleyball scholarship confirmed, I broke my ankle after stepping on and tripping over a toy my baby sister had left out. No scholarship and no college whatsoever now. FML

Eye for an eye. Tooth for a tooth. BROKEN ANKLE FOR A BROKEN ANKLE. Siblings. *sigh*

That really sucks! What about academic scholarships?

Im sorry but i am OP. I posted this before i confirmed my email. it still says anonymous but i am OP.

Actually, once offered (in writing) the school can't take away your scholarship until it's proven you can't compete.

it is proven im not able to play. its been negotiated between my doctor and the coaches. the break is bad enough

I read your follow-up OP, and you said your grades aren't high enough for academic entrance. Well, I'm sorry, but that's why I hate sports. I don't think anyone should get into college just because they're 1337 at chasing/catching a ball. I think actual brain power is what's needed in life, so now that you can't get a volleyball scholarship, work on improving your grades. Spend more time on them than pointless sports. ;)

entrance or scholarship... there's a vast difference. If your grades were too low to be accepted to a college, you should have been on academic probation at your school... or your school sucks.

Geez, you guys are going way too hard on OP. Maybe being in sports was his dream, I bet you wouldn't like it if you couldn't follow what you wanted in life because of an accident. And maybe he does try hard in school, not everyone is meant to be super smart.

126, I appreciate what you have to say and I agree with you for the most part. However, being smart has very little to do with how well you do in school. At least any schooling before college. In my experience, you're mostly graded on effort rather than content. There are also different kinds of "smarts" i.e book smart, street smart, etc.

Why on earth do you have a babysitter if you're getting ready to go to college? You must be like 18...isn't that a little old to need a sitter?

yeah, good point really wise etc etc, but it says baby SISTER, not baby SITTER

If you can't get in to uni based on your academic achievements you shouldn't be going anyway.

It was an accident. Or was it? *dum dum dum*

I know it sounds cliché but with something that ironic you have to believe it happened for a reason. Everything does.

FYL im a college student athlete myself, but I feel as though our coaches are the kind that if we've signed our Letter of Intent they'd make us a team manager or find some way maybe lessen the scholarship a bit being your not playing but not drop it completely and still allow you to be a part of the team. so sorry :(
